She has medium-length brown hair done two side up, and brown eyes. Her default outfit is the class' uniform: an orange shirt with white sailor collar, black neckerchief, black elbow gloves, black pleated skirt, black socks, and black shoes.
Her rigging consists of her funnels on her ankles, 14 cm gun mounts on both of her elbow gloves (with an additional aircraft catapult on her right), and two 61 cm quad torpedo tubes attached to her black belt.
She seems obsessed with night battles, on account of her historical battle record. Her obsession is so strong that she is also known as the "Night Battle Idiot" in-game. The phrase "night battle" is often used as a euphemism for sex in KanColle fan works. Her name can also be read as "Kawauchi", which is sometimes used to refer to her in a teasing way.
