The "Night Sparrow." Stage 2 mid-boss and boss of Touhou's Imperishable Night and a playable character in Phantasmagoria of Flower View.
An egocentric night sparrow youkai who can induce confusion and night-blindness with her song. She dislikes yakitori (grilled chicken) and has set up a grilled lamprey eel stand in protest, convincing blinded travellers that her eels cure blindness (she cures them on the spot).
She is best known, however, for having been reputedly devoured by Saigyouji Yuyuko during IN, only to reappear in PoFV, landing her a place in Team 9, a posse of low-tier Touhou characters. Her more recent association with Kasodani Kyouko as part of Choujuu Gigaku, as well as the increased prominence of her food stand, have loosened her association with Team 9 somewhat.
Contrary to accusations of being illiterate by Shameimaru Aya in an interview from Bohemian Archive in Japanese Red, she merely has poor eyesight, based an appearance in Touhou Sangetsusei where she uses a magnifying lens to help her read.
