vampire
A being in folklore who feeds on the blood of living creatures. Notable characteristics include fangs, predatory eyes, pale skin and a bite mark on the neck.
Although typically described as undead, a vampire could be a living person. Popularized in Europe in the 18th century and codified in literature in the 19th century as a Western folkloric being distinct from its Slavic(-Turkic) roots.
Common beliefs about vampires include that they are immortal, that they can only be killed by being exposed to the sun or by a wooden stake driven through their heart, that they sleep in coffins, have no reflections, are afraid of crosses and garlic, are able to hypnotize victims, are able to transform into bats, and that they are unable to enter homes without being invited in.
This tag should not be used unless vampiric traits are clearly visible in the image. See vampire costume for when a character is simply dressed as a vampire.
